HB 1621: Redefining Simple Assault

In 2012, the Dept of Safety felt as I and the co-sponsors, that an innocent contact such as bumping into someone or just innocently tapping a shoulder should not be a Class A misdemeanor. Asst Commissioner Sweeney and various legislators testified of the abuses associated with the current language in the statute.
